What is Treaty Port Vineyards?
Treaty Port's vineyards are planted on rolling granite hills, amidst apple and peach orchards, on the North coast of the Shandong peninsula, between the old treaty ports of Chefoo (Yantai ) and Dengzhou (Penglai). Since 2004, Chris and Tiffany Ruffle (along with the rest of the crew at Treaty Port) have been working hard to transform our 21 hectare estate into an international-standard winery. Our first vintage was bottled in 2009. You are welcome to visit the Scottish castle that acts as our winery (its a long story), and to stay and enjoy the beautiful Shandong countryside and cuisine.

Treaty Port winery is located on the North coast of the Shandong peninsula which juts into the Yellow Sea linking China, Japan and Korea. What makes this area the perfect place to grow high quality wines? We share a latitude (37.60) with Bordeaux. Hot summers and long autumns are moderated by sea breezes. The granite slopes of Qiushan protect us from the North wind. Transport routes serve us well, with Yantai’s major seaport, airport and railway station a mere 50km down the recently completed highway. Yantai airport is a one-hour flight from Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul. The historic port of Penglai lies 20km to the North.
